A big boost for the Juniors.
It looks as if Raphael Park has secured the services of well known local coach Gavin Bradford to head up the Junior Section. If all goes to plan he will begin with some squads over the Easter period and hopes to build the Junior section over the next 12 months into one of the most successful in the area.
For those of you who do not know Gavin, he has been one of the most successful coaches in Essex over the last 10 years, developing numerous winners of local and national tournaments, including our own Stuart Williams, Lee Duncan and Jordan Jones. As a junior himself he made Nationals through him teenage years, and was known to demolish Tim Henman when in the mood.
He is currently coaching 4 of Essex's brighest hopes for the future, and hopefully we will be graced with their skills from time to time, and if we are lucky he may even take part in some club matches.

So very exciting times ahead

The clubs has been awarded Beacon Site Status by the Tennis Foundation, as part of their inititive to open tennis to a wider audience. This means that funding could become available for a replacement clubhouse and the possibility of floodlights to some of the courts, enabling tennis to be played throughout the winter.
The Beacon Site plaque was presented to David by Sue Mappin, Cheif Executive of the Tennis Foundation, on Tuesday 14 March, and it is planned that a more official presentation will take place later in the year, when it will be warmer and members will be able to be present.
The Tennis Foundation has been set up to try to develop players for the future, and under the guidance of Sue Mappin, who has played in grand slams, is taking tennis back to the grass routes, with funding from the LTA and Sport England. New balls for club sessions
Lets open up a debate about the use of new balls for club sessions. >
It has been suggested that the costs of all social sessions is increased by 50pence, and this extra money generated to be spent on buying new balls. If this is implemented it should mean there would be new balls available each week.
There have been 2 differing views expressed so far - a number of members are all for it, as they prefer the feel and movement of new balls, and other who are no bothered, and do not think the extra cost is worth it.
